Mother's Day in the United States
In the United States, Canada and a number of other countries, Mother's Day is held on the second Sunday of May. It was established as a national holiday in the US in 1914, following a campaign by Anna Jarvis to honour her own mother. Today it is one of the busiest days of the year for restaurants and florists, so booking a table or ordering flowers well in advance is wise. Note that the UK celebrates Mothering Sunday on a different date in March, which can catch out families who live in both countries.
