How to use the OG Preview
Open Graph essentials
Open Graph tags (og:title, og:description, og:image, og:url) tell Facebook, LinkedIn, Slack and most messaging apps how to display a URL when shared. Twitter uses its own twitter: tags but falls back to OG. Recommended image size: 1200×630 for Facebook/LinkedIn, 1200×600 for Twitter cards.
Character limits
Facebook shows about 60 characters of title and 65 of description. Twitter shows around 70 of title and 200 of description. LinkedIn shows 120 of title. Stay within Facebook's limit for safety — anything longer gets truncated with "...".
Frequently asked questions
What are Open Graph tags?
Open Graph tags are meta tags in a page's head, such as og:title, og:description and og:image, that tell social platforms how to display a link when it is shared.
What size should my Open Graph image be?
A common recommendation is 1200 x 630 pixels (about a 1.91:1 ratio) so the image displays well on Facebook, LinkedIn and most messaging apps. Keep important content away from the edges because crops vary by platform.
Why does my shared link still show an old preview?
Platforms cache previews. After changing your tags, use the platform's own debugger or sharing tool to refresh the cached version.
